The ANC Greater Johannesburg Region is expected to hold its 15th conference this coming weekend.
On Tuesday the party announced that it would continue as scheduled for this weekend’s elective conference.
The party said the preparatory Committee had a meeting on Monday to assess the region’s readiness to continue.

In a statement the party confirmed that the Regional Task Team (RTT) met on Monday to consider among other things the report from the Conference Preparation Committee.
“The RTT noted that there are few branches that are required to reconvene their Branch Biennial General Meetings (BBGM) due to appeals on their disputes, “and therefore the RTT has resolved to postpone the conference to 3-5 June 2022 to allow branches to re-run”.
This comes after the party postponed the much-anticipated conference last month due to the untimely passing of its regional treasurer Mpho Moerane who was to contest the position of regional chairperson.
Secretary of the region Dada Morero will now contest Eunice Mgcina for the position of chairperson.
Regional Spokesperson Sasabona Manganye is set to contest Justice Ngalonkulu for the position of Regional Secretary.
The conference will be held in Midrand from Friday to Sunday.
About 300 voting delegates are expected to attend.

The delegate’s pre-registration for the conference will take place on Wednesday at Connie Bapela House, 124 Marshall Street, Marshalltown.
Conference delegates must produce proof of vaccination or their COVID-19 test results valid for 72 hours,” spokesperson Sasabona Manganye said.
Last weekend the Ekurhuleni Regional conference re-elected Mzwandile Masina as chairperson again beating his rival and former treasure Doctor Xhakaza.
The conference was characterised by violent scenes at the beginning where some branches quarrel about being sidelined because they were not supporting Masina’s re-election.
The regional branch lost control of the City of Ekurhuleni in the 2021 local government elections.
