ANC staffers lay charges against top six

ANC employees have laid charges against the organization’s top five for fraud and corruption.

The staffers claim the party has been deducting money from their salaries, but it has not been going where it was intended. According to the charge sheet, the staffers say the top five misrepresented to them that the monies were being lawfully distributed to the intended recipients.

“The accused persons have confessed to the abovementioned conduct and pleaded with the complainants, among others, not to refer the matter to the police. However, the complainants are desirous of complying with their legal duties to report the said criminal conduct of the accused persons to the police and/or other relevant law enforcement and/or statutory authorities,” the workers wrote.

The staffers believe what transpired was on a grand scale and could run into millions of rands. They, however, indicated they were not sure when the practice started. The charge sheet further stated that families of deceased former employees were turned away from services that they had allegedly been paying for, as indicated by the deductions on their salary slips.

“A list of the victims who fall under this category is in the process of being compiled in order to assist them or the envisaged urgent investigation,” the workers said.

The staffers want the national office bearers to be charged with fraud in that during the relevant period, they made misrepresentations to the complainants, UIF, Medical Aid, and the South African Revenue Services.

“In truth and in fact, the accused knew or ought to have known that such representations were false and untrue in that the amounts of monies deducted from the complainants were not paid into the Fund or Provident Fund, or Medshield Medical Scheme or SARS for their benefit or their dependants. The amounts of monies deducted from the salaries of the complainants were unsafe, and those complainants shall not receive benefits from their contributions,” the workers said.

On the charge of theft, the staffers believe that from January 2018 to August 2021, the NOB’s, acting individually or in common purpose, appropriated money belonging to them, medical aid, and SARS.

The ANC has been cash strapped for a while now, with staffers taking the brunt. They did not receive their July and August salaries, while in the months they did get paid, it was not on the agreed dates.

Many have complained of the inconveniences the situation has caused as some have fallen behind with bond and car payments.
